Local Tax on Meals and Lodgings Approved by the Maine House

The Maine House on Tuesday, June 11, gave preliminary approval to a measure that could impose a local tax on meals and lodging.

According to mainepublic.org, the bill passed by just 3 votes, and now will go to the Senate.

The 1% tax would also have to be approved in local referendums.
