The Maine Senate today (June 4) gave their approval for a ban on single-use plastic shopping bags. The House gave their nod, last week.

If this bill becomes a law, customers will be charged at least a 5-cent fee for each bag they use. However, plastic bags that are at least 4 millimeters thick could still be used, because they are considered reusable.
