Maine Sen. Susan Collins is looking at rewards for those that provide information against illegal wildlife trafficking and poaching.
Collins is co-introducing the Rescuing Animals With Rewards Act:
H.R. 6197 authorizes the Department of State and federal law enforcement agencies to use existing rewards programs to offer rewards for information leading to the arrest or conviction of major wildlife traffickers internationally. Specifically, the legislation amends the definition of transnational organized crime to include wildlife trafficking for the purposes of use of the existing rewards program at the Department of State.
Currently, there are existing rewards programs to obtain information leading to the capture of terrorists and transnational organized criminals.
