The Maine House voted on May 8, 2019 in favor to provide most Maine workers paid sick time. The vote on the measure came after a recent unanimous vote in the Senate.

According to WABI, the bill will applies to companies with more than 10 employees, which according to estimates, covers 85 percent of workers in the state.

Employees earn one hour of paid time off for every 40 hours they work, up to 40 hours annually.

If passed, the law will not be in effect until 2021.
